Sometimes it's the small details in a room which can either bring great pleasure...or continually annoy you to no end. And it's often the utility features of a home which intrude upon decor, like an old wall heater, fuse box, or in the case of Lauren of All Things Homie, the digital thermostat floating on her wall...
Sometimes the best way to hide something is ironically embellishing it. In this case, Lauren took an ornate metal frame (looks like a design you can find at nearly any big box retailer or an art/framing shop) that happened to be the exact dimensions of her digital thermostat. She painted it white and mounted it surrounding the previous eyesore.

*opposite of disguise
Most aesthetic fixers for thermostats forget that the thermostat might need proper access to the room air temperature, so this one is cool by me! :)
It is surprising how many common household items are just plain ugly. Especially if electronics are involved.
This would look even better if the thermostat & frame were integrated into a big arrangement of framed photos & prints on the wall.
Hiding something in plain site always works.
Making something more noticeable is a great way of hiding it.
Why not just hide it all together and access your thermostat from your iPhone or Android powered phone.
The thermostat frame is nice, but what I really love is that cabinet thing that we get a glimpse of in the lower right corner. I want it!
This would be great, if only I could do this to my analog thermostat
I put a shadow box frame around our ugly door buzzer - it's a great way to hide it while keeping it accessible. The only problem is when guests come over, they have no idea how to answer the buzzer!
haha, i did this, but not to disguise it. it was supposed to be... ironic
This seems to highlight the problem instead of conceal it. I'm a fan or the time honored "form follows function" mantra. Smacking a frame around something to look "decorative" seems silly.

Try to find the thermostat in this home's frame wall. Great way to hide without highlighting!

We did the same thing to ours this past May, but instead painted it a lovely plum color!
I personally LOVE the look :)

Really? Seems more like highlighting in plain sight!
