Neon is everywhere these days, from the Seattle Seahawks' new NFL uniforms to Martha's neon-glitter Easter eggs. But the question remains: will you embrace the current ultra-bright movement? Like many, we think neon is a lot like wine: delicious, but best when consumed in moderation.
Think of accessories and accents, rather than walls, rugs, or large furniture pieces. Pillows are a great place to start; neon-hued or neon-edged pillows can add the perfect punch to a neutral bedroom or a cream sofa. Adding an electric colored chair is another way to pop in the right amount of neon in an otherwise mellow room.
Much like fashionistas are donning totes and shoes that look like they've been dipped into a pail of neon paint, decoristas are employing the same idea with furniture. Got a bland dining room table resting in a brown and white room? Take those table legs for a cool and refreshing pink neon dip. Another DIY idea: paint yellow neon accents onto an old chest for a look that is fresh, current, but most importantly — not permanent.
