For whatever reason, it seems that recycled objects seem to make their way into some sort of lampshade. Case in point, cassette tapes, spray cans, and even chiquita bananas.(Not the actual bananas, but the cartons.) So what's next in line in the recycled material lampshade department? Toothpicks...
Exhibited at NY design week, designer Daisuke Hiraiwa uses glue and hundreds of toothpicks to mold fluid organic shapes that make for some of the more interesting light fixtures we have seen. Looks almost like a sea urchin hanging from the ceiling.

Looks kinda dangerous. Just sayin'.
I like the texture but it looks awkward as a lamp. It also looks silly covering the bulb. I was expecting something along the lines of a lattice globe. Oh well.
