Whether you’re about to move or just trying to simplify your life, ridding yourself of clutter can be an uphill battle. Tackling a whole pile of stuff (or even just one messy room) can be pretty intimidating. And once you’re actually holding something in your hand, it can be hard to pull the trigger. “But I used to really like this!” “But maybe I will use this… someday.” If you struggle to get rid of stuff, these quick tips from our video archive may be just what you need.

Have you resolved to clean out, but just never found the time to do it? This video, from Fay Wolf, is one of my favorite One Minute Tips because it’s so simple. Don’t be intimidated by the scope of your project. Just start.

Here, Fay explores the reasons we hold on to things, and gives you permission to let go.

And finally, if you’re tackling a big organizing project that includes throwing and giving things away, here’s a great tip from Fay to make the process a lot simpler, and keep track of what goes where.
