If you're like me, you've got an iPad 2 burning in your hands right now that you wish you could get rid of in order to get the new iPad. There's something different about the launch of the new iPad that will make it easier to resell: the iPad 2 is still available from Apple and will continue to be for the foreseeable future. Here are some of the best ways to get the most money for your iPad 2.
Leveraging Social Networks
Whether you are a Tweeter or Facebooker, you've probably got some kind of social network that you like to participate in frequently. Tumblr blogs and other services also fall into this vast category. Whatever you tend to use, the first step to sell your iPad 2 is to make a quick update about your impending sale. I did that on the weekend and got some very quick replies. People want to buy iPad 2s, and selling yours to someone you know who probably lives in your city makes sense. From my experience, the prices that I've seen through some of the offers are always higher than the ones you'll get from online retailers. The iPad 2 64GB 3G sells for around $500 to $600, if it's in good condition.
If you know a lot of people through Facebook, then you'll have the added advantage of them trying to help you out and find someone who wants your iPad 2. A friend of mine found someone at his workplace who was interested in my tablet.
Work Colleagues
Before I made any ad or post about selling my iPad 2 on social networks, I quickly checked with my co-workers to see if someone was interested in my tablet. I got some responses, and the bigger your workplace, the more chances you'll have of finding someone who wants to get your iPad. Depending of the field you work in, there might even be an internal website or forum on which you can post an ad.
Local Online Ads
Instead of going for the bigger sites like Craigslist and eBay, you should try one of the more local online ads in your area. Most cities have them, and they usually have an electronics and computer section in which you can most probably put an ad up for your tablet for free. The benefit is that you won't have to ship it anywhere, you'll meet your buyer face to face and get a cash payment.

Shaw's Original Fir...
How about people be happy with what they have and not wasting money on a product that be "obsolete" come september, and also not supporting the harsh working conditions of Apples factory in china?
This post makes it sound way more complicated than it has to be. I sold my iPad(1) right before Christmas on ebay for $400. And Apple was not still carrying it at the time. It was really easy and I was surprised that anyone would pay that much for a used first generation rather than shell out an extra $100 for a new iPad2. (Is it collectible or something?) Regardless, it was extremely easy and quick. I actually think it's easier to sell on ebay (skip craigslist only because people try to haggle) than to sell to a friend or co-worker, where you might feel obligated to sell for less.
If you are trying to sell a "used" IPad 2 (release date may 2011) then you have other issues!...if the reason you are trying to sell is to get an update.
How about a post on how to get the BEST DEAL on a used iPad? Some of us buy our technology--like our furniture--secondhand.
Anybody know if the warranty, or if it's run, the ability to go get tech support in person at an Apple store comes with a used Apple product?
Actually the free standing ECOATM machine will give you more than anyone in cash immediately......you only have to drop in the box, they are awesome for any small tech devices phones gaming etc. And they are recycling properly.
better for the planet or second hand users in mny cases check thm out really cool and hopefully in your area
But if you sell to your friends on Facebook then they want a deal because they are your friend. Better to sell to someone you don't know.
Seriously, what about tech support? Some of us aren't able to fix our own machines. Will Apple repair these re-sold machines?
It's actually kind of insulting to see this under "Budget Living."
Most people on a budget aren't selling a $400 device that can't be more than a year old just to upgrade for the same thing with a few more bells and whistles.
The way to get the most money when selling your iPad is to sell it on craigslist in the days before Apple holds its media event to officially announce a new model. I went without an iPad for 16 days, but I got more for my used iPad 2 than the identical iPad 2 sells for today, which means it didn't cost me much at all to upgrade to the new iPad.
