How to Increase Curb Appeal to Attract Future Renters?

Good Questions

Q: We recently purchased this 2-family home with two apartments inside. We are renovating the interior and would like to increase the curb appeal outside to attract future renters. We will plant some (ideally low-maintenance) shrubs and work to get the grass in better condition in the springtime, but are also considering painting the siding and/or shutters.

We are aiming for a bright, clean and inviting look while getting the most bang for our buck. Are there any colors we could paint the shutters that would make the yellow of the house look less drab? What would be the best color to paint the unfinished wooden railing on the front stairs? Any other ideas for cheering this place up?
