Q: Help! We just purchased a Case Study sofa and ottoman from Modernica. They are truly lovely but utterly destructive to our fir floors. The allegedly durable Swedish finish is quickly giving up the fight against gouges. I thought a bit of tubing wrapped around the section of hairpin that comes in contact with the floor would do the trick but after only a weekend of occasional sofa use the tubing has already worked its way off.
I don't really want carpeting under even the back legs of the sofa; having protective metal and acrylic cups welded to the bottom is prohibitively expensive and the rubber caster cups I thought might do the trick are unavailable in small sizes and, anyway, are terribly unsightly. Does anyone have any experience with this? Please help!
