We get why everybody goes cookie crazy at this time of year, but we think the classic concept of guests bringing a few dozen of their sugar-frosted Santas or gingerbread men to share is ready for an update. Instead, host a swap of chilly, creamy (throughly modern) cocktails: yes, we're talking about boozy milkshakes. Just ask your friends to B.Y.O.BLENDER so you can all do a shake-sampling taste test.
It's easy - have your guests send you a list of ingredients for their favorite cocktail shake along with their RSVP. You'll do the shopping for the ice cream and booze and they bring their blender. The night of the party, line 'em up, turn on the Adele and voila, an unforgettably delish holiday party is underway.

The "Hello from the Apple Pie" Shake
1/2 cup milk
2 ice cubes
2 scoops vanilla ice cream
4 oz bourbon
small slice of leftover apple pie
a sprinkle of leftover gingerbread cookie
Mix first 5 ingredients (milk through pie) in your blender. (Note: Baileys or Dark Rum will work well, too.)
Sprinkle a little cookie crumble on top as a garnish.
Bonus: In addition to being delicious and fun to make, this grown-up shake concept is super flexible; perfect for using up any extra cookies, pie, candy canes or other holiday goodies as the mix-in ingredient.
