How To: Make a Cork Lamp

atla-072208-cork02.jpgWe love cork lamps, like the one that Grace found for yesterday's LA Scavenger. Not only do they illuminate a space but, if used on a landing strip or in a home office, act as tiny bulletin boards, holding the day's receipts, a to do list, a business card that needs inputting or a hastily scribbled phone number. Unfortunately, the good ones are pricey and hard to find. Why not consider making one yourself?

We'd been jonesing for one of these lamps since we'd seen one in Domino oh so many months back. Seems like design*sponge reader Kate had been too. So, she decided to create her own. Seems easy enough that we're gonna try it ourselves. Start with an inexpensive lamp with a simple shape, thin malleable cork and a hot glue gun and follow Kate's easy instructions. Top it off with a cool lampshade of your own design and turn it on.
