Oftentimes the color and pattern in the crib bedding dictates the decor of the rest of the room. What if you can't find what you want? Instead of settling, consider sewing your own crib sheets. We know lots of Ohdeedoh parents have. We've seen some tutorials for sewing crib sheets, but the one we saw recently at Made is the best thus far.
You'll need two yards of your favorite fabric and approximately 80 inches of elastic. Follow the step-by-step instructions on Made to make a few sheets so you'll be okay between laundry days.

I made fitted sheets for our mini crib and it wasn't difficult at all. This tutorial does seem rather fussy with the serger stitch, the one I found on Craftster required the very basic zig-zag stitch and 36 inches of thin elastic. $24 for sheets is out of my budget, so don't give up before even trying it out, you'd be surprised how quickly these sew up, I made three in about two hours time. Just do some research on the Internet beforehand and there are tutorials like this all over the place.
Wow - what's with the snarkiness?
My mom and MIL have made DH several sets of sheets. Unless you're doing designer fabrics, it's not expensive at all, certainly less than buying one! And you can get exactly what you want.
Also seconding the threading of elastic. Even I could do that part!
HEY!
I've made several crib sheets and it was a cinch and cost very little. I did not need any special sewing attachments either.

Carrie - I've only ever sewn with industrial machines in a factory setting with huge cutting tables and electric, rotary cutters. The thought of home sewing always seems "too hard" for me. I'm all about the special attachments... I guess it all depends on what you are used to! Luckily, most of our customers agree! ; )
Mary Peyton is trying to drum up business, so of course these are too difficult for the avg sewer.
However $24 per sheet is much more than I'd be willing to pay. I have made so many of these, for a much smaller cost, and have had no trouble with homemade sheets. I even made sets of twin size for the older kids beds with no problem.
This is a great tutorial as well, much simpler than the previous one I used.
I'm gonna agree about the easiness of crib sheet making. I made 5 sheets over 4 years ago when I was due with my first and it was soooo freakin' simple. I even got my fabric on sale at Joanns and ended up paying a grand total of $12.67 for 5 sheets.
I'm growing baby #3 right now, and those sheets are still lookin' great! With the spacing between my kids, they have been in constant rotation with no break in sight. Not too shabby, I'd say.
Cannot wait to try!
