We still have a lot of snow on the ground from the big snowstorm over the holiday. And even though the season's decorations are coming down, this snow candle project is perfect for visually warming a snowy outdoor space:
Root a tapered candle in the snow and surround it with a circle of 2" snowballs. Build up layers of smaller and smaller circles until you've built a dome. The candle will illuminate the "igloo" and burn for hours. We can't wait to try this at our home.
Apparently, this is a favorite wintertime activity for children in Sweden. See the full how-to at GRYNX.

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like it because it looks like a bunch of explosions before a massive mushroom cloud.
ha!
Very beautiful!
I have a few feet of snow, so I think that I could line my front walk with them. Very cool idea.
maybe i'm being dense but wouldn't the heat melt the snow?
An great alternative would be to use a flameless led candle.. the larger variety.
We Finns love to make these too :)
And ice lanterns, of course.
@darcitananda No, the heat won't melt the snow. It's cold outside and we usually use tealights or other smallish candles. Placing the candle in a glass jar will protect it from any wind.
I have been doing this for years. It's a great welcome to party guests and a great conversation peice. You can build this in an urn at your entry. I also like to bury candle votives in the snow in safe, strategic spots. Your front yard and walk will glow.
