Q: My bedroom windows face the street and another apartment building, and I close the curtains once it gets dark outside. They stay closed all night to block the lights from the street, otherwise I wouldn't be able to sleep. However, keeping them closed blocks the morning sun, and I always wake up groggy. Does anyone have a recommendation for curtains that are thick enough to keep out neighbors and street lights but sheer enough to let in the sun? Thanks! -Sent by Lydia
Editor: Ah, the eternal question! I have no use for a butler unless one could sneak into my bedroom early every morning and open the curtains, allowing me to wake gracefully after a night of deep, dark sleep. I've tried various solutions over the years but until I can afford said butler or robotic curtains, I'm stumped. Clever readers, please help us out!
