Heading into the depths of winter, I look for uplifting things I can do inside at home, AND right now these tree murals are rocking my world. While the detail and labor can vary, these DIY tree murals are accessible in skill, cost pennies and quickly can transform a room with their huge statement. I've seen many come across our site over the years. Here are the best ones. Got your own? Please send it in!

• Look!: Sideblown Quince Tree Mural

Nomade Express Slee...
Like these for a kids room or play space better than for grown-up spaces. The green painted walls with white trees is brilliant, I'd like to be a kid in that room!
I agree - much better for a kids space. It looks way too busy & chaotic for my taste.
The last one I really like - I could see it in more than just a young child's room.
Is the first one (the Jeff Robinson quince painting) blocking a window? That room doesn't work for me.
I put some birch trees over a boring retro cupboard and it really changes the piece: http://peacefulones.blogspot.com/2012/08/creation-day.html
I like the last one.... I think in a subtle colour combo, it could work in an 'adult' space. I've been thinking about something like this for the big blank wall in our office. Maybe in the same light grey paint as our living room accent wall?
Have bookmarked the tutorial... thanks.
I will be happy when this trend is over as well. I don't like decals of any kind and think they cheapen any room which they are used, including a nursery. But I have a friend who loves them, so to each their own!
I will be happy when the trend of saying "easy peasy" is over.
What a lovely topic and with such wonderful examples. Thank you!
We're currently building a tilt-up concrete home...we kept two of the interior walls concrete and put leaves in the panels while they were drying that became a leaf pattern on one side and a tree on the other: http://thedailydelights.wordpress.com/2012/10/29/our-dream-modern-green-house-the-last-of-the-walls/
Love this collection of rooms with trees, thanks for sharing! We did a similar space for a bachelor a while back - check out the photos, it added just the graphic hit needed to complete the room http://agoodchicktoknowgallery.wordpress.com/distinguished-gentlemen-2-small-spaces-for-men/
Very enjoyable, especially the string one with the framed birds - brilliant!
Very cool!
I had a smallish tree branches mural set that was too small to work in the living room. Now I have tree branches growing out of the toilet tank. Birds and all. Makes me smile when I walk into the bath. :)
I love this idea for my yoga space. I've wanted to do something special to the walls--something other than stenciling "breathe"
I'll have to try to dig up a photo- I had a very mellow painterly (as in, not black and graphic) tree mural in my last living room- just birch trunks. Freehand painted and outlined with artists charcoal- they were very pretty, but the charcoal thing turned out to be a bad idea when I had to paint over it when I moved out.
Are all the people who comment on AT minimalists? Jeez, I get so tired of hearing how everything is too busy for somebody's tastes. Apartment Therapy show cases a lot of creative, colorful, often out of the box decorating ideas. Is there no one out there who lives on the edge a little?
I love this! When I was 16 my mum trusted me to re-paint my own room in whatever way I fancied - I painted the celing a wonderful murky dark green, in each corner of the room i used the same colour to create a big tree (stem and branches, no leaves) from floor to ceiling, and the walls in between a creamy white. I loved that room, and I love trees indoors.
I agree with @misssblue. To those of you who will be happy when this trend is over, if you're going to wait to be happy until everyone's taste agrees with yours, I'm so sorry. You're...not going to be very happy.
I made trees out of the stainless steel-look contact paper. My landlord took them down during a renovation, even though he wasn't painting. They didn't peel any paint off. I'll never forgive him!
I like murals and these are no exception. I forwarn if you're going to go the vinyl way and stick it on the wall and have a toddler, there's a 50/50 chance they're going to one day realize that it is indeed a sticker and go to town peeling it off.
HOW do you get these self-adhesive things to stick to the walls? The self-adhesive is useless. I've also tried mod-podge. I prepared the walls carefully -- rubbing alcohol at 1st and TSP on a subsequent try. My walls were relatively freshly painted semi-gloss. I've given up on one of the stick ons; the others are about to be ripped off because they are on my last nerve!
They are so incredible. Bold artwork and with alot of effort. Wow. I'm impressed.
I don't think I would have that kind of patience with the prep and exacto knife.
The only thing is, if you ever want to change the room, the artwork is gone.
