How To: Make Recycled Magazine Boxes

Perfect timing! We've got two large stacks of magazines just sitting in our living room. Instead of dumping them all in the recycling bin, we can now turn them into a great DIY project.

Craftzine recently linked to Abstract Octopus Attack's Flickr set documenting how to make these boxes out of old magazines.

We think the same technique can also be used to DIY these magazine coasters and placemats.

I have another suggestion to recycle magazines and still avoid the blue bin--our apartment building has a basket in the lobby area with a label on it that says "Recycled Reading". We all put our old magazines in there and take others we haven't seen. It's awesome.

You could also take them to a charity outlet. I've been buying magazines from my local one for years.
