Last weekend we decided to do a project out of our new favorite book, A Guide to Green Housekeeping. We used a wire hanger from the dry cleaner, an old T-shirt, and a ribbon to finish it all off.

- Cut a old shirt or other fabric into strips. (We found that narrower strips work best.)
- Begin by tying one end of the strip onto the hanger and wrap away!
- When you get to the end of the strip, tie it off and begin again!
- Finish the hanger with a ribbon.

These are not what I would call padded hangers. I would, perhaps, call them "non-slip" hangers. They would work well for keeping slippery garments from sliding off. They would work very poorly at the task I want padded hangers for, which is to prevent sharp dents and creases from forming in the shoulder area of my clothes. If you look at the pictures, it is obvious that a thin wrapping of old t-shirt strips will not provide very much padding.
These hangers look atrocious.
