Stacy S. created her own modern coffee table with various DIY parts from the hardware store and made it unique and special with a coat of yellow paint! Click above for the pics and head below for all the instructions. Give Stacy S. a THUMBS UP if you find this project helpful....
MODERN LEGS
TOOLS:
Home Depot paint, stain, and varnish
Screwdriver
Ace Hardware modern legs
Painter's tape
foam brushes
paint roller
STEPS:
1. I found a raw wooden table top at Home Depot - it was pine I think.
2. It was pretty smooth, but I sanded the edges and any rough spots.
3. Then I chose a medium stain, and stained one side and edges of the board.
4. Painted the top face of the board with a foam roller - I picked high-gloss yellow Behr interior paint from Home Depot. To make sure the side didn't get paint on them, I taped off the edges with painter's tape.
5. Stained legs from Ace hardware, installed angled leg plates, and screwed them in! Thats it!
RESOURCES:
Ace hardware for the legs - super cool and cheap! I read about them on AT!

Sprout Side Table
If you use slab wood (not so much with butcherblock style) make sure that the wood has been properly dried. My solid walnut coffee table warped about 1/2" in the winter dryness (It was on a rug so I didnt notice until it was very serious) This happened despite putting 3 wide strips of 3/4" oak strapping across the grain underneath!
this looks really nice. i'm not generally a fan of acid-yellow/green, but this looks quie nice against the dark surfaces.
ikea has some stupid-low prices for tinted tempered glass for the malm dresser tops. while they're fixed in size, if you were to work in those dimensions, you can have a good-looking (and durable) surface for drinks, etc... i'd be scared that regular latex paint would not stand up well to feet/glasses/remotes/etc... you could take the glass-top to your home center and have them cut a sheet of plywood (or MDF) to size and edge with hot-melt edge-banding veneer (a $4 roll should be plenty). then paint the top as above, but protect with the glass... the engineered wood will/should have less warpage (per modfan's note).
No offense, but this is a waste of time and $120 for something that has no worth. There are enough vintage modern coffee tables on Craigslist in this price range that have survived the last forty or so years in good shape...no warping. And they continue to have worth down the road. Of course, if you just enjoy making your own furniture, good luck. If you were able to make this for $50 or less, then I would be more impressed.
YOU ARE SO CUTE!!!
I did the exact same thing, except that I HAD to have an oval shaped top, so I had to invest on an electric saw, but I LOVE my coffee table.
Cheers!
