It's an understatement to say we love organizing. So when we recently moved into our new home, it gave us the opportunity to organize brand new spaces (yessss)! After getting the kitchen set up, we worked our way over to the large, under-the-sink cabinets.
What You Need
Materials
Shelf risers
Containers
Tools
Tape measurer
Instructions
1. Clear everything out of the cabinet you wish to organize and use this as an opportunity to wipe down and clean the interior.
2. Measure the width and height of the space (you'll need these measurements later for picking up the correct shelf riser(s).
3. Organize the contents of your cabinet (like with like). Could be like colors, size or function--whichever makes the most sense to you. We organized our items by function.
4. Look around the house, can you repurpose old boxes and containers to house your belongings. We had a handful of clear, undergarment and sock organizers that we were no longer using.
5. Pick up shelf risers and any extra containers you may need from the store (we picked ours up at The Container Store).
6. Place like contents together in containers and label accordingly.
7. Put the shelf risers into the cabinet.
8. Play around with the arrangement of the containers until you can see and access all items easily.

I did this to my freezer, my rental doesn't have any shelf in the freezer, so I just had to pile everything on top of eachother. I bought a similar shelf from the store and now have a freezer shelf! I'm not a very tidy person, but I love to organize! How ironic is that...?
LOVE how the container says "Mac Extras" and not "Computer Extras"...I'm a proud Mac user and will take any opportunity to show it ;)
Superb! I must add "shelf risers" to my growing shopping list of things I want from The Container Store.
When Hold Everything was still in business, they had some shelf risers that were adjustable in width: That's what's in my freezer, the cabinet over the stove and the cabinet above the fridge.
Best $55 bucks I ever spent.
I can't do anything with under the sink. That's where my pet possum, Virginia, lives!
Great tips on organizing cabinets!
In labeling my documents, I'm using a multipurpose memo pad holder to hold them up.I use it to post notes as well.
A cabinet for batteries & such? Lucky you! I rent, and the place is fairly limited on cabinet space. I do have a drawer that I keep these kinds of things in. After sorting and grouping, I placed like items in ziploc bags & labeled them with a sharpie. It works pretty well, and is a nice option for drawer organization when you can't use shelves.
