Oftentimes for me a picnic is pretty impromptu — a stop at the local deli for some sandwiches and sodas on my way to the beach. But when properly planned, a picnic can be such an elegant affair.

While it might not be feasible these days to tote around a straw basket loaded with real plates and cutlery, there are things you can do to make your picnic a little more special.
