Q: Hi! I have picture rail molding all over my turn-of-the-century apartment, and my landlord prohibits hanging directly on the walls because they're so old/don't have studs. I bought sturdy gallery wire and hooks to hang my pictures from the molding, but they all hang down from the wire in mid-air (see picture)! What am I doing wrong? Some of the frames with wider bases rest flat against the wall, but the others just hang about an inch or two out from the wall and wobble with the breeze. Any suggestions are much appreciated! -Sent by Kelsey
Editor: Kelsey's question made me realize that I have no idea how hanging things from picture rail molding actually works! Wobbling in the breeze doesn't sound quite right, though... Picture rail pros, how can Kelsey keep the frames firmly in place and looking fabulous?
