I do this very same thing - and had to figure it out on my own after mucho trial-and-error (no one should need a glass of Chardonnay every time they're done putting on a duvet cover).

I do this, but if you're like me then your comforter gets all bunched up in the duvet after a few days.

So I sewed ribbons at the corners and along the sides of both my comforter and duvet. I tie the ribbons as I flip the duvet outside in and it doesn't move around!

I do the same thing, but somehow always end up totally inside the cover... I just lay down on the bed and wriggle out though, and it seems to work pretty well!

I lay the cover on the bed and crawl into it with the duvet making sure all the edges match up, then crawl out, give it a good shake and tie up the bottom. Probably not the most effective, but it works for me.

i like to crawl into my duvet because 1) i know i wont be able to do that sort of thing forever and 2) it makes me feel like a kid again! remember playing with those huge parachutes in PE?

haha this last time I put on a duvet cover (king size) I had to crawl inside of it and was struggling so much that when a neighbor saw through the window, they came to check and make sure I was okay!

If you want to keep your comforter in place in the duvet, use safety pins in the corners and wherever necessary.

I wash my duvet cover weekly and appreciate this info! I always have trouble getting it done quickly.

Yep, the ribbons at the corners trick works quite well.

Just lay the comforter on the bed like a spread and slide the duvet cover on. To get it in place simply grab each corner (at the ends)and shake.

The pictures above would work great for a twin but a king size would be harder.

I use this method all the time, and we have a king size duvet. It helps if you stand on the bed so you have the extra height to shake it out properly. :D

They also make plastic snaps to help your comforter from getting all crazy inside the cover. Thy're about $6 at Bed, Bath & Beyond.

I use this method, too: you just shake *hard* and eventually it gets in there.

I flip the duvet cover inside out and then match the corners to the comforter. Then as holding the corners, flip it back right side in, then shake really hard until it lines up. Works every time.

OH!..I flipped when I saw this site..scrolling down...seeing the insane gymnastics in my head....hysterical...picture everyone at once!..and I realized..yup...it's just gonna always be a big pain in the arse..and booting cat off the duvet/comforter/bed at the same time..........as I'm heaving and huffing and knowing I should of kept that boyfriend around.......: )

I sew snaps into the corners of my duvet and covers (on the backside of the cover). Male snaps on the covers and female snaps on the duvet. Snap everything into place with the cover inside out, and "Popple" it inside (remember the stuffed toy "Popples"? You would stuff them in their back pouch to turn into a ball. That's what I'm talking about). Works like a charm, stays in place when you shake it out and comes apart easily when you need to wash it. I also have used snaps on Ikea bedding for closures, since they don't put on closures themselves.
