Q: I've been trying to scale down the amount of stuff I have around my apartment, and have accumulated a number of electronics cables (usb, power cords, etc) over the years. I'm having trouble finding out how to properly recycle or dispose of these. All the information I've been finding has been for actual electronics. Do you have any suggestions for their disposal?

Editor: Liz, check out this post over at our sister site Unplggd for some ideas. One of these sites might also accept cords and cables.
Other suggestions for Liz?

Best Buy accepts them for recycling.
Have you tried posting them on Freecycle, Gumtree, or Craigslist? Also try a Best Buy store to see if they will take them. I sold some of my excess cables, usbs, and power cords on Ebay. Check with your local city maintenance to see if they have a Bring it Back program listing local businesses that will take these items off your hands.
Why don't you try macrame or crochet? I think you can make coasters, keychains, bijoux, or a plant hanger like this http://bit.ly/duVZ8r :-)
