We've seen bookshelves turned record storage and vice versa. We've also seen them turned into desks, as well as other types of workable surfaces. But what about a window seat? This is where Instructables' users come in, who have created a sweet remix of IKEA's GORM shelves into a sturdy seating area, perfect for kickin' back with some e-Book reading or computing (unless you're like us who happen to own one of those Macbook Pros with extra-glossy screens)!

After purchasing two GORM shelves from IKEA, Instructables user randofo found one of them was a little crooked. Instead of running all the way back to IKEA, he decided he'd turn it into a DIY project, modifying it into a sturdy window seat with ample storage for records, books, and other media storage beneath. His process is rather extensive, with lots of wood choppin' and sawdust, but we believe the end result really speaks for itself.
