We don't have carpeting in our home, but we do have one area rug. With a recent shift in furniture, we really wanted to nip those carpet dents in the bud. The solution involves an ice cube...

Drop an ice cube into each carpet indentation

Leave them there until they menlt

Blot up the wet spots and fluff

Wish it were all this simple!

try steaming it as well, using the steam setting on your iron;just don't rest the iron directly on the carpet!!

Um... I usually just rub the bottom of my foot over it and it usually "undents" itself.

We use a pasta server to fluff up the carpet. The ice cube thing is a great idea too.

Sometimes Oriental rugs and other area rugs can suffer from color run (a condition known in the industry as "fugitive dyes") when they get wet, so take care when you use this trick.

You can test for fugitive dyes by rubbing the area with a damp towel. If the towel starts to take on color, you're likely to ruin your rug if you get it wet.
