How To Tone Down the Brown in My Kitchen?

Good Questions

Q: Long ago, I read an article about how to tone down the color of tiles in old bathrooms. As an example, they used green accents with yellow tiles (and they suggested a blue-green with powder blue tile and sherbet orange with salmon-color tile). I only saw the picture of the yellow bathroom, and it looked great. I currently live in a rental studio with a nice-sized kitchen, but the cabinets are light brown and the counters a grey-brown tone. I'm not particularly a fan of brown (only black-browns like from dark-stained furniture) — actually, I prefer a cool color palette. What would be your suggestion?
