Wowza - a gorgeous (and green!) reader project arrived in our inbox this morning. Tony sent us photos of this coat rack/picture rail project made from salvaged wood and old doorknobs. Jump below
for the details and more photos:
Tony tells us:
I made a pair of picture rails from salvaged wood and metal studs: Mounted the wood beam flush to the brick, folded and pinned the stud ends into a box form for structure and then screwed the studs open side up onto the top side of the beam.
Dropped some old door knobs underneath as a bag/coat/hat/helmet rack.
Total cost for both racks, excluding the vintage doorknobs, was $17.
If you don't have access to old doorknobs try the Readymade suggestion of using round garden faucet handles from your hardware store.
Result: less stuff on the floor, more room for the dog.
It looks fantastic and super practical - it's always great to see a project for the entry area. Thanks for sending, Tony!
