How To Paint Front Door When It's in Your Living Room?

Good Questions

Q: My problem is my couch faces the front door. I walk into the building and then there is a small communal hall, and then there is my front door. Let's just assume that is the only place my couch can go, to make this simpler. Painting the door the same color as the walls has been the solution in my head, but what stops me is, do I also paint the molding around my door?

If I do that do I go straight to the floor with it (look at the bottom where the baseboard and the molding meet..). My walls are matte, should I also do matte, even though I touch the door all the time when taking on and off shoes and coats etc. (I live in Montreal, where getting off your outside gear can be a procedure...). If I do semi gloss or egg shell will that look weird?

I think you can see why I haven't done it yet... This is my first place, I have been here 3 1/2 years, generally love it and am happy with my decision to buy this condo. BUT as a first time buyer I did not consider the problem of walking straight into your living room issue... So as an avid reader, yup, I have a landing strip which is also shoe storage (you spot it I'm sure...thanks Ikea...). And I have a coat closet just outside the living room. But I sit and lay on this couch when watching TV, or reading, and there the door is... and it bugs me to bits!
So please help, and thanks in advance.
