Got a couple old, non-working floor speakers on hand and want to create more storage (or a secret cubbyhole)? Father Rhyme of the site, Good Rubbish, converted a pair of Technics SB-2560 speakers purchased on Craigslist into swing door cabinets that would appropriately be a great place to store away CDs and DVDs...
More detailed explanations and photos of the speaker project here. Plenty of discounted used speakers out there for your own project.

But why would you want to?
?!? Because we all KNOW stereo speakers look MUCH better than book shelves?
two probs here:
1. if you want to hide something, dont hide it in something that people will steal.
2. get rid of the magnets on the backs of the actual speaker drivers, or they might erase/ruin some media placed inside. perhaps he did that, i ddnt check, but I see magnets in the pic.
I think people stopped wanting to steal these speakers in 1984.
