We would have used a different cabinet, but nonetheless, Instructables has a nice overview on building a TV lift cabinet. For about $500 you can have the utility of a hidden tv and the cool factor of a magically appearing screen at the touch of a button.

I agree with that comment! Is there a way to mount the TV lift to the back of the piece so that it comes up from behind and you don't have to butcher the furniture? This just seems so wasteful and kind of silly.

p.s., it also is a shame that he spent $500 and who knows how much time for the sole purpose of hiding a nice TV, while leaving a crappy power strip in full view.
