Christmas wreaths need not look like country kitsch. Readymaker Phoebe Streblow celebrates the solstice by making a modern sunburst-inspired rendition out of a Styrofoam wreath form (we found ours at FloraCraft) and a fistful of multipurpose zip ties. Start by spray-painting the zip ties a festive color (we chose silver). Then, one by one, loop them around the form and fasten them with the tie end facing out. You can alternate the lengths to add some depth, or keep them all the same for a more symmetrical look. Lightly coat any exposed sections of the foam with paint and hang your ever-fresh holiday laurel.
