We have often spoken of Ibride's designs and handiwork. They are pretty pieces to look at and make the spaces that they adorn feel playful and youthful. Something that is rather nice in a world of clean lined and sometimes static finds, but would they really ever find a place in your home (they would in ours, but we tend to be the odd duck)? Let us know after the jump!
The bookcase featured above is named Martin. Martin is exhibited for the first time at Maison&Objet in January 2009 and gets moving to Milan for the Salone del Mobile 2009. He (we assume it is a "he" due to the name, although we didn't check *snicker*) is linked by a wire so he is internet ready and comes complete with lighting.
Martin would be great in our own open loft floor plan (if we could afford such things), although we wonder if we had a house with walls, if there would be room for a mule that would consume a good portion of the living room? Would you be willing to go to the extreme? Or are their pieces something you like, but wouldn't really ever consider owning? Leave us a comment and let us know your thoughts on Ibride's, 4 legs good, 2 legs bad, design ideas.
Helpful Links: Check out Ibrides Website to see some of their other pieces that are fabulously animalistic in nature.
Martin has also been seen on Yatzer and Design Milk recently. He's quite the celebrity.

I love Ibride and would happily put any of its designs in my apartment -- if I could afford them and if I had room, which I can't and I don't. Woe is me!
if i could afford him i would make room for martin in my tiny apt post haste
That would freak out my dogs.
But really, would you use the shelves and drawers for anything? Maybe as an entry hall piece, to hold keys, etc.
I wonder whether the humor of the thing would wear on you after a bit.
Definitely not for me. It would freak out my dog too.
I wouldn't mind a couple Droog pieces, but probably not more than one in any room.
ummm.... well i like some fun peices in my living space but sometimes that would get on me...
I'll be darned - last month I bought a cigarette dispenser that looks just like that for a friend. You load up the pack with smokes, then when you pull down on an ear the tail pops up and...well, you can guess the rest.
OK, I just had to google it...here's a link:

Not for me. Too gimimacky, which doesn't wear well. I might find it amusing today (not so much, actually) but in a year, be really sick of it. Which is ok for things under $100, only!
