I first heard mention of these on a radio program. Two days later my husband saw them in a store and sent me this photo. They are new jeans diapers from Huggies.
Well, they're not made of denim, but made to look like jeans with a denim pattern printed on the diaper, pockets and all. Note that the box says they are a Limited Edition product. Part of the marketing concept behind these jeans diapers was that babies could wear these diapers without anything else and still looked dressed. So disposable diaper issue aside, what do you think of these - cute or not cute?

My husband's uncle works for the company who makes these and sent us a trial sample about 18 months ago. I have a few pics of my son in them. I'm not a big fan, but they are a cute novelty that made for some fun pics. But I'm definitely not planning to purchase them. My son generally hates to be in a diaper only and I'm not a fan of the diaper only look myself, regardless of style or pattern.
Yikes!
i don't get these. if you want really cute diaper designs, use cloth dipes. there is infinite cuteness there.
Tacky. And, I know you said disposable diaper issue aside, but cloth ones serve this same purpose and are way cuter.
I'm all set with my daughter looking like she is wearing booty shorts.
I think they look like booty shorts too. Not cute.
Actually, I think they're pretty cute!
I'm saying "No" to the Daisy Dukes.
Are these supposed to be for boys or girls anyways?
These are incredibly tacky, and a great example of over-designing a product. I also wonder what dyes are used to make them look like jeans, and how toxic or biodegradable they are. I would never in a million years put them on my children.
Wow. Y'all are a little uptight. It's not like they're marketing @ssless chaps.
I think they're creepy.
I think they'd make for some funny pictures, so I'd just want to buy one. "@ssless chaps". HA!
Eh, I saw them in the store, and although I didn't buy them (I usually buy diapers in bulk at Costco), I'm not offended by them. I put them on par with the regular Huggies deco - Mickey & friends. I actually kinda like Target's new diapers - cute blue and green dots, and they work pretty well, too.
Oh, and yes - I use disposable. Not cloth. Maybe someday when I have a washer and dryer IN MY HOUSE and don't have to haul laundry. Sanity is worth a lot right now :-)
Haha patrick!
Totally tacky. Not a fan.
Not cute. They look weird enough on the box, but on the baby they look even worse!
This is Just plain weird. Plus I have heard from other mom's the dye rubs off. If you want cute go for REAL cloth diapers.
ugh - that is so gross. It's not about being uptight, it's about tryign to understand that babies are babies and don't need to look like teens or adults. Much like 'high heels' for little girls' - do we need to make a toddler look like Paris Hilton? Very icky to me.
Forget about the product, have you seen the commercial for it?!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydWMY8cYPUU
Honestly, I don't really see the point. I mean, yeah - ha ha, my baby has 'jeans' on...but really, why?? They wear it for an hour then it's filled with poo and it goes in the trash. I'm not creeped out so much as confused.
Hideous!
I'm definitely with doucey on this one. I just don't get it, it's a diaper! Just put a diaper cover on if you want something cute. Unfortunately this is a novelty thing and I'm praying it doesn't open the door for more designs.
This reminds me of the cracked.com post about regrettable baby products.

This should be filed after "Baby's First Heels".
They look trashy, so that equals hilarious in my book.
I'm not sure tiny cut-offs are really a look I'm interested in, BUT I do have to applaud Huggies for coming out with a new design conscept. I'm all for breaking out of the licenced cartoon character realm! I'd love to see more overall designs, something more like bummis covers.
PeachyPear took the words right out of my mouth!
We used cloth from nearly day one (or Tushies disposables) but used sposies on plane trips and then overnight when DS became a night peeing machine and had reactions to the FuzziBunz liners we bought to boost his prefolds. I hated buying character diapers!
They are just a gimmick. It is silly. I wouldn't buy them, but I'd rather have denim on my baby's diapers than Big Bird or whatever the heck. Thank goodness for Up and Ups.
No better or worse than the usual cartoon characters
i just threw up a little in my mouth...
haha, patrick! WHISKEY TANGO. i agree with just about everyone here. i wish disposables could look simple like G diaper covers or something (without being a gazillion $$). i hate characters, but i'll take an elmo over these creepy / trashy wastes of money. buy some chambray bloomers if you want denim! and that commercial... oh em geeeee! i'm dying! hahaha.
hilarious
This is why my company www.playpants.ca was born! To cover up diapers (disposables or cloth) with modern bloomers! (and we have a denim style too;)
Ugly. I would never put those on my kids.
The commercial's tagline, "The coolest you'll look pooping your pants", is possibly the worst I've ever read.
I think they are funny. NOT classy in the least, but funny. :)
We use cloth most of the time so I won't be buying them though.
I thought this was a spoof at first! These diapers are hilarious, which makes it even MORE funny how some of the commenters have been so uptight & negative about them.
They remind me of Tobias Funke & his "never nude" condition.
Seriously, are these any worse or better than the normal stuff on diapers? Why are there so many sticks around these comments? Geeze. They're funny! Yes, they look like a diaper, so do cartoon characters. And, I used cloth for along time too and to me it's all the same. They all get covered with clothes so who cares what they look like? Personally, I like these better than Mickey Mouse or Elmo or...
Now, for a really funny line of diapers, maybe they can get some with red lipstick marks on the back side - that would be funny. Maybe with the words, "kiss ma grits" along side of the lips...
As long as they aren't any more expensive than regular diapers I might buy a small package for fun. Yeah, they're kind of tacky but otherwise harmless.
Hilarious-ness!
these are SO funny... and that commercial is hilarious!! go huggies for making diapers fun.
it's sad so many parents seem to have no sense of humor whatsoever... how many teens or adults do you know walking around in pseudo jean diapers, really? I don't think they're trying to 'mature' the diaper look, I think they're just trying to have a good time with the day-to-day diaper duty. you guys might want to loosen up a bit before your kids become teenagers. just sayin'.
Weird and a little creepy
i get really grossed out when i see kids with only diapers on (especially when we are playing at a play area and they are running around with no pants and a saggy diaper on)---i think "that can't be sanitary"...
this is gross.
"Mom, do these make my butt look big?"
That seems like alot of dye as if my sons sensitive skin has enough issues...seems like a waste on the maker and consumer...keep it simple when it comes to diapers.
I love the "never nude" comment. This is totally what Tobias would have worn as a baby LOL.
I work in a big chain store garden centre and caught a glimpse of the display case of these about a month ago in the warehouse. I am still undecided on it. I agree, better than elmo or whatever, but it is a tonne of ink and a little trashy when you *really* look at them. Who doesn't look trashy with cut-offs up to here ...
I bought em just for giggles. Yea, I said it...giggles.
Oh my gosh. I never even thought about Tobias Funke. SO FUNNY. Just for that, I give them a THUMBS UP. Never-nudes from birth!
ew, baby Daisy Dukes :(
What makes them creepy -> trying to make babies sexy. Commercial is even worse. Sorry to be uptight, but these cross some kind of line.
I'll stick to cloth.
melissapher--I got a coupon in the mail for these, and "Never nude" was the first thing I thought of! Ha! I just think they're weird. My kid does wear jeans, cute elastic-waist ones from Hanna Anderson. Why do I need diapers to imitate the jeans we already have?
Another point--why is it nearly impossible to find elastic-waist jeans (and pants) in a 2T? Everywhere I look toddler jeans have a zip fly, belt loops, and I've even seen "skinny" jeans. My toddler wears diapers and it's very difficult to change her when she's wearing age-inappropriate pants.
Yuck, but better than the usual. Why people agree to advertise characters on their babies is beyond me. One of my favorite things about 7th Generation diapers is that they are plain. Now we use cloth and I love the colors.
Pencils - Gymboree often sells elastic waist pants. I never, ever buy anything but elastic waist until potty learning is over. What a waste of time! Cotton knits hurray!
Personally I wouldn't put them on my daughter, but they're no different than bloomers.
lol @ the "never nude" comment. Brilliant.
I don't see anything wrong with them. I wonder if the dye rubs off though.
I would buy a pack just for the sake of it, but knowing me, i would still end up putting a pair of pants over them.
No harm though... and cute commercial.
I think these are the funniest things ever. Not offensive. Just ridiculous.
I think the commercial is pretty brilliant. It doesn't tempt me to buy them, but it made me laugh.
cool!
soooo ridiculous i had to buy them, but my baby loves foolishness.
i got these on sale for $1.99 (i cloth diaper too btw) but i just had to buy them because of how ridiculous and funny they are. i just use them for emergency diapers and yet when i do need a spare it makes for a good laugh :)
