Truth be told, when I saw this craft in an issue of Disney's Family Fun Magazine while in the waiting room at my son's doctor's appointment, I was instantly smitten. What a fun craft to create with your child and I was honestly excited to make one of my own!
The colors in the sample photographs are really beautiful, and I couldn't help dreaming about what color palette my son and I could come up with. The results are absolutely striking and the idea that it's made from a hula hoop and t-shirt yarn makes me smile. Hop over to Family Fun for the hula how-to.

Commercial Flour Sa...
We made the smaller one and plan to make the actual rug. We used tshirts that we had laying around here, but you can easily hit up garage sales and thrift stores super easy I just had to help my 4 year old get started then she was off!
I saw this just yesterday in the magazine. I have been rounding up tshirts since.
Wow.
Reminds me of the potholders I made as a child... only way cooler. I'm not familiar with this publication, but I never would have thought of consulting Disney for something like this.
this is so pretty. when i read the instructions yesterday, i was disappointed that the rugs can only be about as large as shown in the photo (not all the way to the edge of the hoop) . . . but then i had an idea! make a bunch and patchwork them, like those old trivets made of crochet-covered bottle caps sewn together. i could totally do that.
Ohh I love the patchwork idea! I could see it as wall art even (with extra support so as not to strech!).
I am SO turning this into a hanging-seat-hammock for my boyfriend who has been asking for a hanusly ugly 'standing' hammock for ages. Now i can design one that will be way more mod, like one of those 'hanging chairs' I keep seeing, except my rug will end up looking more like half of an Egg, but maybe it deserves to be crocheted.
