With the myriad ways the world allows us to connect with one another, sometimes all you want to do is disconnect. That's the concept behind London designer Freyja Sewell's HUSH, a womb-like retreat made from wool felt.
"The 'womb' shape inspires very different feelings in different people; to me it is a warm, cosy space, for contemplation and rest," said the artist.
Constructed from a single piece of industrial felt stitched together with wool yarn, HUSH is part sleeping pod and part seating pod. Button it up and take a snooze inside, then turn it into a seat when you want to socialize.

File this under things that look like...other things.
OR: A Ready-Made Fort! I love this!
@Jess13 - Bahahahaha! :))
@jess13 can't. stop. laughing.
Are they kidding with this mega-gina? Was it originally designed for rebirther therapy? Did they have to choose nude colored material with red pillows inside? Where can I get one?
The Birth Canal Sleeper Sofa?
My husband suggests some ermine trim would be nice.
@Parnassas, grey wool is "nude colored"? Perhaps you should schedule a checkup, methinks you could be a bit ill... ;^)
It's kind of odd, but I agree with the "fort" or "tent" interpretation... for kids it would be fun and easy to embellish with more colors of felt... my cats would adore it! Not sure I'd actually spend time inside (arthritis makes floor activities a bit painful) but I like the sculptural sense of the thing!
Post like this and this one below need to have their own category description. Maybe "things that look like... other things"

Ooooooo! A fortune-cookie....uhm.....fort? Actually, I wouldn't mind this in my home for my 4 year old but it's way too big and pricey.
One person sees genitalia, another a fortune cookie. I see fruit -- a chestnut bursting open, or a pomegranate. I see this thing appealing to kids more than adults. Or to my dogs. I spent far too much on a meditation chair (ordered online) that I realized, when finally seeing it in person, looked suspiciously like a dog bed. My dogs agreed and called dibs on it immediately.
@Parnassus, if that's a mega-gina, the poor old gal has some major fibroids to deal with.
I suppose Prince Charles would love this. (Too obscure?)
Love this! Want one. Now.
Rural and Rueful, I got the joke. Not sure what that says about me ...
I actually like the concept of this, but wool felt sounds itchy. Not sure how comfortable this would be. I like the teepee idea better.
Yeah! its a fort! really brings out the kid in me (allthough that dosen't take much :) I'd love to curl up in here at the end of a busy day in the world.
I can't think of many things more uncomfortable to the skin than wool felt.
I want one of these for our cats, they'd love it. But I am so very allergic to wool, it'd be great if it were in another type of fabric
