To mark the 75th anniversary of the classic Alvar Aalto stool, Judy Ross has created a limited edition version of the stool with Artek. They are upholstered with Ross fabrics and are part of a numbered series of 200. The chainstitch textiles used...
...are very textural - lending a crafts inspired feel to a classic 20th century icon. The upholstery is colorful, hand embroidered, and made from 100% wool.

I'm a big fan of Judy Ross textiles. I splurged on a couple of her pillows but my budget only allows me to admire her rugs from afar.
These are beautiful. The toothy chain-stitch (not to mention the great patterns and colors) really bring a new perspective to an old standard.
We have the Ikea versions of the Aalto stools (we bought a whole bunch to have as extra seating at home for our low-budget "wedding reception" party at our condo a few years ago), so we have more than a few floating around. It never occurred to me to upholster them... what a wonderful idea!!!
I'm sure these are above our budget (though the textiles are great), but I've found myself a new project! Thanks!
