Hmmm. Perhaps their current issue's cover was a prediction of sorts? We just learned that I.D. Magazine has folded. As a former I.D. intern (summer 2001) and freelance contributor (2001/2002), I am sad to see it go! Published by Cincinnati, Ohio based F+W Media, the I.D. staff was based in New York and shares an office with their sister publication Print. According to Fast Company, F+W plans on continuing the Annual Design Review competition and publishing the results online. The January/February 2010 issue will be the magazine's last.

:/ I hope Print won't be next.
Sad but predictable
Sad news. All of my favorite magazines are disappearing.
this is terribly sad. even as a print designer, this one topped my list (above print, how and commarts)...
ouch, when will it end.
Does anyone know whether UK's Living Etc. magazine folded? I can't find it anymore at my local Barnes and Noble.
Just saw the Dec. Issue of Living Etc. at my local B&N last night. Import magazines usually come third week of the month. January Issue is up on their website. Maybe your BN decided not to stock it anymore.
David, I just picked up the January issue of LivingEtc this evening. It's definitely alive and kicking! (Thank goodness.)
If you're in NYC, Hudson News stocks it within 2-3 days of the UK release.
I have to say as an industrial designer, this magazine has been missing the mark for a very long time. It's sad to see a an icon in our industry disappear, however, I can not say that I will miss it. The closure just widens a huge gaping hole in the market. There is no magazine that meets the needs of industrial designers with engaging practical content without an elitist tone. Even amidst the print industry chaos I believe there is a real opportunity for a new standard....
Never heard of it...
The magazine industry indeed seems in crisis, which is sad. Also sad is the fact that so many of them (including 5 of the ones I subscribed to) don't have the cintegrity to inform in advance/refund their customers when they fold.
Oops, make that 'integrity.'
...this was the first design magazine I ever subscribed to. I sincerely hope that I.D. is able to transform itself into something new and better.
Other magazines are growing though.
I love print and an artist tangible reading material is more fun.
I am not a fan of the Kindle.
