I need help with a design/space problem. Our apartment has this odd "stage" area that precedes the kitchen. We don't really need more counter space, so aren't into a kitchen cart idea, but we don't know what else to do. Any thoughts? Our apartment has a living room, dining room and a study, so we don't really need the extra seating, but perhaps someone has a great idea. Any help is appreciated. Of course, frugal ideas are even more helpful! Cheers!

Editor: That IS an awkward space! My initial impulse is to put a long credenza on high legs along the wall where the drop leaf table is. Something like this Sullivan Sideboard from Williams-Sonoma Home. Basically, a large piece that will dominate the space and give it a focal point. If you are against adding large furniture a huge piece of art dominating that entire wall would also add a focal point. Who else has ideas?
