Q: My husband and I inherited a small truck load of old faux brick that a previous tenant left in our apartment's storage unit. Other than attempting to sell it on Craigslist, any "outside the box" DIY design ideas for putting it to use? We could maybe do the obvious and panel a wall of our apartment with it (our landlord lets us do pretty much whatever we want as long as it's an improvement).

Ugh...that stuff is EXPENSIVE. I was actually going to faux paint my wall in a brick pattern after finding out that it's about $70 for a 2'x4' piece.
Aiiee! Based on previous comment, SELL IT! Maybe even eBay it rather than Craigslist, but specify local pickup only.
fire pit?
Hey, if you're allowed to, do the wall! Always love that look.
Lucky! So many things you can do with it! Instant architecture and character to whatever you choose!
Consider putting it on the wall then painting a "vintage" advertisement on it, then sand the paint down so the ad looks like an original element to the building.
There used to be a Lucky Brand Jeans store that had this look in its boutique. It was quite cool and really looked like the ad on the wall was there forever. They also painted a rug on the wood floor and scratched it away.
When you're bored with the exposed brick, you can paint it a white gloss for the city loft effect too. Enjoy!
Do you have a yard? Brick patio.
If I were your landlord, I'm not sure I'd consider a faux brick wall to be an 'improvement'.
Just saying....
Sell it on Craigslist and get something you really want with the money.
I vote you build a crypt for that pesky nemesis--fashionable and functional and know one will be the wiser.
I love me an exposed brick, but the fake stuff always tells on itself. Sell and make an improvement you care about
Modeled on a cinder block set of shelves?
I just saw a post on another design blog (CasaSugar) complaining about this stuff. Maybe you SHOULD sell it...
I think you should put it on the floor to delineate a space or room if you have a very open floorplan. You could build a frame for it, lay it out in a decorative pattern rather than just going across, and you wouldn't have to mortar it. Plus, since it's the faux stuff, it shouldn't be too thick. Not too much of a step up from the surrounding area. And you could take it with you if you ever go.
I vote for a wall. We did the faux brick on a wall in our bedroom. It adds so much to the atmosphere in the room. The way to keep it from looking too "fake" is to get a little sloppy and let the mortar ooze out around the bricks a little.
I had a faux brick wall in my kitchen in my first house. It was kinda cool, looking back and that was in the 80's'......man, I'm old!
Sell it, faux will always look faux, and will never feel quite right.
Look at this gorgeous brick wall in this bathroom reno, which they painted white:
