Q: I recently inherited a furniture set from my great-grandmother's house. I've always loved this set but I don't know anything about it. I'm guessing it's from the 1950's, but I'm not certain. Can you help identify this piece (the other piece is a twin/opposing loveseat)? The upholstery is tan velour-like material.

I'd say it's from the 70's given the color and the velour upholstery.
Velour is a knit with a velvet-like nap. This is likely upholstered in velvet which is a woen and better suited to upholstery.
Huh. The body seems Deco, but the legs are very 1950s. I wonder if someone swapped out the original legs at some point? This could look very glam if you found some shiny or lucite legs.
Very cool piece.
You can't date upholstered furniture by color or upholstery material since those can be changed often.
I agree with Lisa-- even the Lucite legs part! Although, the current legs are cool as well. Soooo cool though!
