Q: I just purchased this coffee/patio table from a flea market and I'm hoping I can get help identifying who made it. The legs are iron and the top is a heavy, solid material- possibly marble? The woman who sold it to me swore it was a George Nelson but I'm not finding that to be true. Very curious as to what it actually is!

Sprout Side Table
Completely off topic...
your cat is adorable!
Can't id but you must be my twin. Love the table and the rug and yes at one point I had a gray tweed couch (relative who worked in office furniture sales).
I was just flipping through the West Elm catalog and that table looks just like this one! http://www.westelm.com/products/y-base-coffee-table-g206/?pkey=ccoffee-side-tables
yours is much nicer than the west elm!
Nice table. It could be handmade. Just guessing because I have an iron and marble table made by a local artist.
I love the action shot of your kitty grooming him/herself! The table is beautiful, but your kitty is precious.
I'm not sure who made it, but you could check 1stdibs.com.
If you can't find anything at 1stdibs.com, the members of the forum at designaddict.com are pretty good at sussing out designers.
...or maybe Paul Mccobb?
was that a brimsfield find? if so, brava!
love your style! what a great find.
I don't think you're going to ID this table. George Nelson it most definitely is not. But it's a nice table!
Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions! Looking into those sites right now, k2yhe...
Looks like my question got posted in Boston, but (@firespitter) I actually live in Los Angeles and found this at the Pasadena City College flea market.
Biggie the kitty is very flattered!
Yours is like an eames eiffel base - and the west elm is like the bertoia chairs/bench.
It kind of looks like this old industrial one: http://www.mondocane.com/archive/item/39
I think it's Paul Mccobb from the Pavillion line he did for Arbuck in 1952. It is not a very well documented line and not much is known from it other than a few pictures online and a couple pieces on 1stdibs. The top looks like that milk lab glass Mccobb used for his Directional furniture. But I can't say for certain since I have not seen the entire catalogue.
Oo yeah, could be! Thanks so much, Comicgeek.
Also hearing it may be a Wim Rietveld?
The suspense!
Yes, the one from west elm is similar. Buy smaller.
The photo is of my living room, the mystery table has been bought. My priority is to buy recycled, not new :) Go green!
if it is rickety, then more likely by paul mccobb (of concern if cat weaves through it). reminds one of a butterfly chair, aka bkf or hardoy (jorge ferrari-hardoy, 1938). does not look repro.
It's not rickety at all... very solid weld. The table top does sit on top without being affixed. Thanks for your tip, amisdottir! Still searching...
