Ikea Home and Garden Show: Pet Rescue

We were surprised to see so many dogs at the Ikea Home and Garden Show yesterday. Some were there for the training sessions and some were there for adoption. And it made perfect sense because what makes a house a home more than a pet?

They're loveable, they're furry and you have to pick up their poop. And man are they totally worth it. With pet month coming up in September, you might be tempted to get a dog or cat, so before you go bounding off to a pet store or to the breeder, consider rescuing an animal. Of course pets are a commitment and not something to decide on a whim. So before you adopt Spot, make sure you're ready to take on the responsibilities of a good pet owner. Do you have the space and time in your life to care for an animal? The resources if they get sick? For years to come?

These places are represented at the show, and of course there are shelters in every neighborhood with animals that need a home:

Fast Friends Greyhound Rescue

German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County where you can recycle a cell phone and save a dog. If you give them your old cell phone to recycle, they get a donation from the recycling company. So if you're not ready to adopt a dog consider a donation or let them recycle your old phone.

Stop by The Ikea Home and Garden Show this weekend to see some dogs in person and also to see the cool Ikea Dream Home.
