Check out Ikea's whole selection of hooks on their website.
You missed including Kubbe - we just installed one of these at about 4' high, right over the shoe rack. Its a row of 3 small cubbies with a door on each... oak veneer...perfect for our mitts and front door stuff and it matches the shoe rack. Kubbe... cute name.
I wish I had a space to hang stuff when you walk in, but my landing strip is basically right in my kitchen, there's just a wall I have to utilize. do you think the Storage Shelf with Doors from CB2 http://www.cb2.com/family.aspx?c=118&f=3332&viewall=1 would work? I can't quite tell if something without legs would work... I need a real shallow shelf/console solution - less than 12"...
Laure - I love you! I am in Santa Barbara and a trip to Ikea is a major commitment (especially with my small car!) and I am Curing and need some landing strip help. This will help me narrow down my choices BEFORE I step inside the store. Now that my son is 11 - they won't let him in the play area so trying to shop with a cranky boy is insanity-inducing. Thanks!
i love it melanie. what a cool product!
You'd think that a shelf made of rods, like some of the above, might not work for a landing strip, but my wife and I use a series of ceramic dishes on a wire shelf, and it works very well, and prevents spill-over.
i really want a good landing strip although space is tight, the front door really just opens up into the living room in our apartment. What we need is a really good shoe rack for this area. right now we have a white wire monster that looks horrible. i can't seem to find any good shoe racks out there that will still hold a good amount of shoes and look good (without costing a fortune like some $200 ones i found online).Eventually i think i'm going to try and convert a bookcase into one if i can find the right case, put some doors on it etc, hide the shoes...
I use Ikea's Babord shoe rack. we use 2 stacked and they work really well. You can even permanently attach them to eachother for stability. Each rack holds about 8 pairs of shoes.http://www.ikea.com/ca/en/catalog/products/68270509
if i had a dollar everytime AT said landing strip...
not sure if this has been posted but i found this great shelf from urban outfitters that will be perfect for a landing striphttp://www.urbanoutfitters.com/urban/catalog/productdetail.jsp;jsessionid=F51599664B436DEFB01968E373A63583.app13-node1?itemdescription=true&itemCount=60&id=12982740&parentid=A_FURN_WALL&sortProperties= product.marketingPriority,-product.startDate&navCount=70&navAction=poppushpush&color=
...just be careful:everything you 'drop' there becomes a potential semi-permanent part of the artscape in the room.
