Inspired by a nightstand from Anthropologie, Britt McMaster blogs about taking matters into her own hands to re-create it using IKEA basics as a starting point:
Adding decorative trim and turned wood legs to IKEA's Fira drawers was a DIY project that produced two stylish bedside tables for $96 each (much less, we're guessing, than the Anthropologie inspiration!). A paint job and three glass knobs later, the result is beautiful and not at all unlike the original:
the Anthropologie inspiration (left), and the DIY version (right)

Love this. Great idea, and great execution. So much better too, because now you have a piece that is unique.
I think the DIY version looks better than the inspiration.
looks nice. you could even use a gilding wax to further bring out the texture in the trim.
i want that duvet!!
very awesome job and I love the duvet too
i just looked at how you did it. I have one of the 5 drawers on a chest in my bedroom and was planning on trying to make it resemble the cute night stand we have on the other side.
You totally beat me to it, but have really inspired me to actually do it.
thank you so much!
That is just fabulous and inspirational! Love the paint color and how it coordinates with your duvet.
How I wish I was able to do something this creative!!!!!
this is awesome, and i love that gray paint!
It looks much better than the inspiration, IMO, and I love the colour.
looks great! thank you so much for this. i have some hand me down malms that are still in perfect condition, but look so boring to me. i've racked my brain on what to do with the drawer faces for a while. i think i may try this...
I love the DIY version, nice work.
I go into Anthropologie mostly for inspiration and for that one rogue sale item in the back.
Then I take my ideas and make them myself and save about $500.
Please tell me where the duvet cover is from!
