There are some IKEA items that hit stores for a single season and never reappear, and then there are those that remain popular year after year, can be found in 50-percent of all house tours, and that we would 100-percent buy again. A few ubiquitous items pop to mind—the RENS sheepskin, the BILLY bookcase. I always assumed they were the most popular items at the store, but are they really? To figure out what lives on the most-loved list, we asked the Swedish retail giant for their list of their 10 best-selling items. So here they are, in no particular order, the official IKEA classics.

BILLY

Price: Starting at $30 for a 3-shelf unit

Are we surprised that the BILLY bookcase made the list? Not even a little bit. The beauty of the BILLY is it's remarkably versatile. Choose a simple three-shelf unit, or build an entire library. Adjustable shelves, optional doors and adjustable heights make this series easy to customize—and that's all before we consider these DIY hacks.

POANG

Price: Starting at $79

When I went to college, I inherited a pair of POANG chairs from my brother, and then passed them down to my sister when she went to school, so this seat is basically a family heirloom. It holds up over the years, yet is comfortable enough to read, watch tv, or even take a nap in.

MALM

Price: Starting at $229

A simple slated bed with optional storage boxes, for less than $400? It comes as no surprise that the MALM is an IKEA favorite.

KALLAX

Price: Starting at $35 for a 4-compartment unit

This customizable series lets you build storage up to the ceiling, or tuck a small unit into a corner. Plus, the $15 insert with a door lets you stash belongings out of sight.

RENS

Price: $30

When the RENS began popping up in every single home in every magazine or home decor blog (including ours), I'll admit, it initially inspired some eye-rolling. But then I made the mistake of touching one at a bin in IKEA, and the rest is history. It's the perfect soft and cuddly accent to warm up your favorite chair.

STOCKHOLM Rug

Price: Starting at $199

This high-contrast rug is an eye-catching accent, while the neutral palette means it can work in almost any space.

LACK Tables

Price: Starting at $10

This mini Parsons-style table costs 10 bucks and is the ideal size for small spaces. I used one as a nightstand in college, but they also work well as a side table beside a couch.

EKTORP Sofas

Price: Starting at $479

Confession: I am sitting on one of these bad boys as I type this. Apart from the very affordable price tag, its classic design and a slipcover that can be easily removed and thrown in the wash are the EKTORP's two biggest draws.

DOCKSTA Table

Price: $179

This funky Saarinen look-a-like adds personality to a home, while the space-saving design is great for a tiny apartment.

RIBBA Frames

Price: Starting at $1.99

These frames have a simple, modern design, and the cost of an entire gallery wall of RIBBAs adds up to the price of a single frame at other stores.
