I've been eyeing the armchair on the website for a while now. Thanks for giving me a push to go and check it out in person!
$649 for an IKEA sofa? Isn't it $469?
I have the 3-seater sofa and it's surprisingly durable, considering it comes in four boxes and you assemble it yourself. It was great for me because I live two hours from the closest IKEA and was able to take it all with me in the back of an Explorer. The only tiny drawback was the tool they give you to attach the buttons with snapped in half after the first cushion, but a regular crochet hook will do the trick.
pbphoenix, you're right. The couch is $469.00.
I have this couch (love seat) and I love it. The proportions are perfect. It is comfy to lie on and read -- unlike couches with angles. It has a low profile and doesn't take up a lot of visual space in my narrow house. Best thing, it comes in pieces and I could take it away in my car. I am thinking of adding the chair.
I forgot to add that I dispensed with the buttons, too fussy for my taste.
So nice looking...How hard is it to put together?
How sturdy does it feel?
Are there slipcovers available?
It is so so -- a little on the ordinary side right?
I agree that the chair and 3-seater are a little ordinary, but the loveseat hits it just right. You can't see the perfection of the proportions in the photo you have to see it in person. There is a very slight element of tongue in cheek irony in the retro design with its oversized arms and funny little wooden legs.
A curious thing no one has mentioned is that the interior of this sofa (the arms, etc) is/are made of a kind of strong, heavy plastic foam rather than being contructed of wood and canvas in the usual way. There is a thin layer of padding over the plastic structure and then the velveteen cover zips over that. Only the legs are made of wood.
are the legs easily removeable to be replaced with another style?
Yay! That's my couch! But it's B-J-U-V, not B-J-O-V.
Maggie -- I found it quite ingenious to put together, not hard at all. It feels pretty sturdy to me. I don't really remember how many different slipcovers they had but maybe Bemz (http://www.bemz.com) will start making them for the Lund Bjuv soon.
I don't know if the legs are removable (wouldn't dare to try it) but I have actually considered covering them with a fringe trimming in blue and green that someone showed me.
it's kind of poltrana frau (historical collection) ish, we like!
make that love, damn
sorry! x2
For sofas, you want a Veronica Lake. This is a Roseanne--too many trips to the IKEA meatball bar.
this is a great sofa-- i just picked up one from long island lastnight. easy and fast to put together, and though it's true only the legs are made of wood, the frame itself is metal.
also,
i want to mention i got it for $210 off the original price. as it is no longer listed on the ikea website, this couch is probably going out of stock.
i'd suggest you buy an extra splip cover, and visit/call your local ikea in person for availability and price.
at $256, the deal was UNBEATABLE.
Go to eBay to find covers - I got the couch on sale, but it only came with the white cover. I bought the red cover for $159 from a nice seller in Canada. $169 for green. Her ad says it's discontinued, so get the covers while you can...

didn't they discontinue this???
I have just bought a second hand Lund Bjuv and love it already! However, the person I bought it from removed the buttons to wash it for me, and handed me the buttons and device for attaching them - but no instructions!
Can anyone scan & send me the instructions for attaching the buttons - or can it be easily explained on this site, please?
Many thanks!
If anyone in the Bay Area is interested, I have a Lund Bjuv white armchair for sale on craigslist. I love it so much, but unfortunately don't have room for it anymore after moving.
