Name: Ike (16 months)
Location: Philadelphia, PA
I decided on an orange and grey "city life" theme for Ike's room since he's growing up in Philadelphia. I know not everyone likes a themed nursery, but I liked how it gave my decorating a clear focus. And it's a theme that Ike can grow into, as the inevitable cars-and-trucks obsession rears its head.
My favorite item is the orange ducduc crib that I scored on Craigslist for a great price. And the toybox is special because my grandfather made it for my first birthday. I added the Philly skyline stencil by sketching and then cutting out a piece of posterboard. I used orange Chevron fabric from Spoonflower to sew the cushion and a matching valance.
The bedding and car pillow are from DwellStudio's Skyline collection, and the rug is the Flyover rug from Land of Nod. The dresser is the Malm from Ikea. The orange chair is Ikea's discontinued Fridene swivel chair. The slang flash cards were a silly gift, and I displayed a few of the baby-centric ones (as in "Ike likes to holla from his crib").
It's a small room (about 11 ft x 10 ft) with two doors, so there is limited wall space. The room used to be our office, and we just left the heavy metal tanker desk where it was because it's a such pain to move. I'm surprised how great it has been working as a changing table.
Well done! Thanks Renee!

Shaw's Original Fir...
I like this room a lot. I think the dresser though would be better in a different place, if only becase you can't get to really enjoy the awesome lines of the crib with it placed directly next to it.
What a fun theme and use of your special chest from your grandfather. I love the bright orange! I'm with Judiau on the dresser placement.
It looks like you have made the most of your small space. I love the happy color choices. I also think the mobile of vehicles, the border of vehicles, and the rug that resembles a map all go together for a perfect little "city boy" theme.
The bold colors really open up the room. It may be only 11x10 but, you utilized the space very well!
What a fun room! I am just finishing up my 6 month old son's room, also orange and grey, so I think it's the perfect palette for a little boy. And I love the Goodnight, Philadelphia book. I'm a Philly native transplanted to Southern California. I'll have to get that for my little one...and for me!
I have always loved the flyover rug, and it looks great in Ike's room!
Thanks so much everyone for your feedback and comments! I've been inspired by so many of the nursery tours on AT over the past few years, so it was fun to give you a tour of Ike's room.
I was browsing looking for idea's for my son's room and I love this room! And I especially love that it is in my hometown! I think we are also going to do a cityscape room, but since my husband is English I think we'll opt for a London focus....but you gave me some great ideas ;-)
