iMac Lamp: Another DIY Mac-Based Lighting System

Hacking old Mac computers seems to be a great way of recycling them. We just love the great ideas that we have been seeing recently. This has to be one of the best-looking DIY Mac lamps that we've seen.

This beautiful lamp by designer Randal180 should give you plenty of ideas about what to do if you've got an old iMac lying around. This particular model was released in 2002. It was nicknamed the iLamp since Apple advertised it as having the same flexibility as a desk lamp.

Randal180 had three of these clever looking lamps for sale on Etsy for $75 each plus $20 shipping, however they all sold out quite rapidly. But don't despair! Randal180 has said that he's currently working on more and they will be available later this week. The iMac Lamps will now sell for $125.

There have been other versions around, but none of them looked quite as good as Randal180's. If you've got a spare old iMac, patching in a lamp shouldn't be too hard. Granted it won't look like this one, but at least you'll have the satisfaction of having it done yourself.
