These pen and ink illustrations make us think back to our favorite childhood books. The cross-hatching and the occasional hint of color create special little windows to magical worlds. We bet one of these prints on a child's wall would spark a little one's imagination to create all sorts of dreamy, narrative details to explain the funny images. Megan Eckman is the artist behind Studio M.M.E. In her San Jose studio, she creates these Old World-inspired pieces that are both densely detailed and whimsically silly. According to her Artist Statement, "The Victorian and Edwardian periods continue to fascinate me with their outlandish outfits and moral rigidity", and she believes that "artwork should invoke laughter". She certainly got us smiling with these beautiful drawings. Be sure to check out her website and online shop where you can find more of Megan's work.
