Imogene + Willie is proof that Nashville has more to offer than honky tonk and barbecue. This brick and mortar shop is the dream of husband and wife duo, Carrie and Matt Eddmenson. Part retail space, part workshop — a place to make and sell what they do best — designing custom jeans. But while the denim and leather goods may play center stage, the swank interior provides the ideal backdrop.
Once you walk through the door of Imogene + Willie, you feel as if you've entered into a different era. Their story takes you back to a time when crafts were honed and handmade, quality goods were the norm. The shop is housed in what was once an old gas station — and while it has been impeccably transformed — the space still purposely drips with evidence of its former life. Rusty metal cabinets, wire bins and an old wooden ladder offer up storage while the concrete floors are softened by a cowhide rug. At the entrance, a well-loved leather couch greets you while paper patterns sway from the ceiling. Worn metal signs, flags, vintage bikes and mounted animal heads continue the Americana theme, decorating the walls and ceiling.
On your right you have the workshop, a place where pattern makers and master sewers work amidst the sea of industrial sewing machines. On the left side of the store, you'll find their custom jeans, boots and vintage wares artfully arranged against the dark and moody walls. The glossy orange chandelier lends a bright pop of color to the space in addition to illuminating the oversized mirror.

If you prefer whiskey and a beat-up pick-up truck over martinis and a sports car, then make sure you visit Imogene + Willie the next time you're passing through Tennessee. Whether you're in the market for a new pair of jeans or you just want to check out this carefully curated space for yourself, I highly recommend it!

I was in Nashville in June and walked by this shop. There was no clear signage in front and it didn't even look like a store. Maybe they're going for an exclusivity thing but honestly, they should make the place a little more appealing to foot traffic.
As a Nashvillian I 'm proud to see posts like this acknowledging Nashville as more than just a town of hicks! We've come a long way in the lst few years. But, I gotta say there ain't nothing wrong with honky tonkin' now and then :)
I've been there are those kids are stupid stylish.
nice shop, but I couldn't ever bring myself to pay $300 for a pair of jeans and $200 for a plaid shirt. I'm wearing that outfit now, and it cost me $55 instead of $500.
Love, love, love Imogene + Willie. Great addition to Nashville, especially the 12th South area. I can't afford their jeans either, but I love going in there to pet their big yellow Lab & talk to their staff. It's an awesome store.
