The movie may have been confusing to some, but to designer Vivian Chiu, Inception offered a clear theme that she brilliantly applied to her furniture design. Like the movie, the Inception Chair has layers of itself within itself within itself. Confused?
Chiu is a recent graduate from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), and focuses on sculpture and furniture design.
The Inception Chair is made from a total of ten chair frames designed to be taken apart. The size of the first, outer shell frame is to the second frame, as the size of the second frame is to the third, and so on. The design could very well be called the golden ratio chair.
Are you as confused over the Inception Chair as you were with the Inception movie? No way! The design is actually simple, but the concept of this chair is something truly mind-blowing.

You know the title "Inception" refers to the origin of an idea, not the thing inside of a thing concept?
