AT has always been a proponent of design solutions that transcend beyond aesthetics and tackles some of the greater problems facing our lives as a city, nation and planet. That's why we're glad that INDEX:, a non-profit network organization that focuses on design as a process to improve life worldwide hosts their annual Design to Improve Life contest. Spotlighting 112 innovative designs from around the world, many of these designs have the possibility to actually change the world by tackling issues of human necessities, sustainability, or connectivity...not your typical design contest.
Take a look at this year's 2007 Top Nominees list in the categories of BODY, HOME, WORK, PLAY and COMMUNITY. The finalists will be awarded this coming August 24th in Copenhagen. We particularly like the Spacesaver concept, a space-economic solution in which a sink and washing machine are combined into a single unit, utilizing precious bathroom space for your body and clothes washing needs.
